The Kelford Camtech OSCA NZ Championship and North vs. South Challenge will be run over four rounds with individual championships for each class (GT1, GT2, GT3 and GT4) and challenge trophy contested by GT2, GT3 and GT4 cars.
Kelford Camtech will be providing a prize money, sashes a trophy for the series. The prize money will be split evenly between the 4 classes and awarded to the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place getters in the NZ Championship based on total points earned across the 4 rounds.
The North vs. South Challenge will be based on a points system that provides for even competition between the two Islands. The number of cars earning points will be limited to the minimum number cars from each Island in each class. E.g. If in any given race the if the north has say, 10 GT3 cars and the South only 7 then all 7 runners count from the South and the top 7 runners from the North, likewise, if the South has say 8 GT2 cars and the North only 4 then the top 4 from the South count against the North’s 4 cars regardless of how many finish from the Island with the least numbers.
After the four rounds the total points from each Island can be added from the three classes (points awarded from race 1,2 and 3 not qualifying or any flying farewell that may happen) and whatever Island has the most points wins the trophy.
The two North Island rounds are also rounds of the South Island OSCA Championship so expect to see at least 10 South Island cars making the trip to the North Island.
The first round at Timaru is a MotorSport New Zealand Tier 1 race meeting and a round of the Mike Pero Mortgages Series. The scale of this event will provide motivation for many North Island cars to travel to the South Island.
